EP6: Phaeleh and his Emotive Electronic Music

Phaeleh aka Matt Preston is delightful, humble, funny and a stellar electronic music producer. “Afterglow,” his emotive hit from the album, “Fallen Light,” released in 2009, officially put him on the global map with over 21 million streams on Spotify.

Matt joins us from Bristol, the city known for a variety of genres including trip-hop, drum & bass and dubstep. This 1 hour 40 minute conversation gives us a deep look into Phaelah’s creative process and his well of inspiration and motivation. He tells us his origin story in great detail, how he entered the music industry without a record label and the ways his career has evolved over the past 15 years.

Mid-way through the conversation we are joined by fan Dave Schwartz who has been following Phaeleh since 2009.

This is a conversation that any aspiring artist will want to hear because it’s a focused look under the hood of someone who is doing what they love well, and making it work year after year.
